Despite Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Chinese military has dispatched a delegation to participate in the '2022 International Military Congress' hosted by Russia.

The People's Liberation Army delegation has recently left Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia, and is heading to Javaikalsk in the Russian Far East to participate in the international military conference to be held next month, the military channel of China's state-run CCTV reported.

The CCTV military channel reported that the delegation consisted of troops, tanks and vehicles, but did not provide further details.

The International Military Competition, also known as the 'War Olympics', is an annual competition in the military field that was launched in 2015 by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

This year's tournament, which will be held from the 13th to the 27th of next month, will be held in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24th.

Russia's Ministry of Defense announced on the 22nd that "So far, 237 teams from 31 countries have confirmed their participation in this year's international military competition.

"A total of 36 contests will be held, and 13 countries are ready to hold some contests on their territory," the Ministry of Defense of Russia said.

This year's International Military Convention follows the joint exercise hosted by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

In response, the Washington think tank Center for Safe and Free Society (SFS) noted in a recent report that "China, Russia, Iran and Venezuela may be a strategic move to pre-deploy military assets in Latin America and the Caribbean."
