The left is played in

Alicante

.

So much so that the winks from the Valencian Government and, in particular from President Ximo Puig, are constant (although insufficient for critics of Valencia's centralism).

However, the

PSOE

not only does not raise its head in the main fiefdom of the PP, but the party of the main socialist baron is crumbling in the territory of

Carlos Mazón

, the president of the Valencian PP who has just completed a year in office and with the polls pointing to a change in the

Generalitat

.

So the socialist powder keg has blown up again.

Once again, in Alicante.

The war has been reopened this time on account of the pulse that the one who was once Puig's candidate,

Paco Sanguino

, is willing to throw to recover a vital position in electoral terms.

The spokesman for the Socialists in the Alicante City Council, governed by the

popular

Luis Barcala

, has denounced nothing more and nothing less than the existence of a "parallel" municipal group that basically bypasses him.

This group would be sponsored by the eternal leader in the shadow of Alicante socialism, former senator

Ángel Franco

, against whom Sanguino is now attacking after dismissing the councilors and advisors related to him.

Sanguino not only stands up to Franco - who pulls all the strings in Alicante without Puig opposing him too much - but also raises the pressure by knocking directly on

Ferraz

's door to denounce an internal conspiracy against him.

The still socialist spokesman - after the new grotesque episode his continuity is in doubt - has lamented in a letter that the "parallel" municipal group set up by Franco also has the approval of the local general secretary,

Miguel Millana

, in addition to the support of all the dismissed

Moreover, seven of the nine councilors of the socialist group - the main opposition party - are against the dismissals and have already asked Sanguino to revoke the decisions on the grounds that he has acted "unilaterally".

However, according to Sanguino, this group has been meeting in the shadows for months and designing the municipal opposition strategy in Alicante without taking into account his own opinion, that is, that of the official spokesman and, in theory, with stripes.

In other words, their role in the Alicante City Council is "supplanted", because in these meetings initiatives are decided that will be taken to the municipal plenary session when in reality they should be agreed within the group or the executive.

Sanguino has even warned that this shadow group uses his statements without his permission or knowledge.

Now, in the party it is criticized that, deep down, he has always gone free and has ended up paying for his political inexperience.

In fact, he came to the socialist ranks as an independent, when his name was a reference in the culture of Alicante, where he directed the

Teatro Principal , and when

Manuel Palomar

's wild card failed

.

However, less than a year before the municipal and regional elections of 2023, Puig's experiment in Alicante has been confirmed as a new failure.

Unable to recover the Mayor's Office for the Socialists in 2019, Sanguino is now turning the party upside down again.

But the reality is that her name no longer appeared in the socialist pools for 2023. In fact, the departure of

Ana Barceló

from Alicante from the Valencian Government in the last remodeling of Puig, to occupy the group's spokesperson in

Parliament

, was interpreted precisely to build a socialist alternative for the southern capital of the Valencian Community.

After two years focused on managing the pandemic from the Health Department, the idea was for Barceló to adopt a more political profile from the Cortes with an eye on Alicante.

The other option, although with less prestige, would be that of

Josefina Bueno

, another Alicante rescued from the Senate to assume the Ministry of Innovation and Universities, the only one based in Alicante.

The strategy, in any case, is to fix now the collapse of the party.
