It was on February 28 this year that a 22-year-old woman was brutally killed on a bike path in Andersberg.

A 19-year-old relative was arrested for the murder and now a forensic psychiatric examination has found that at the time of the act, and even today, he suffers from a serious mental illness.

- It is obvious that there is a need for forensic psychiatric care, says his lawyer Conny Engstrand.

He is supported by the chamber prosecutor Annika Hessel, who believes that the man's mental illness has been obvious to the participants in the trial.

- For example, he has stated that he thinks he is pregnant, she says.

The motive for the act is still unclear.

During questioning, the 19-year-old has stated several different reasons for the act.

One explanation is that he wanted revenge for a humiliating abuse to which he was subjected.

The police have found a picture in the dead woman's phone that matches the man's description of the incident.

But the suspect has also stated that the murder was revenge for the woman killing his sister.

However, that task is impossible because the sister in question is still alive.

Judgments in the case are expected on Tuesday.
