Kuwait Public Prosecution refers a number of "murtwatin" to "crimes"

Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Qabas" reported that the Public Prosecution referred a number of "martyred" people to the Criminal Court after investigating them and demanded that they be punished, on the grounds that they support a tweet that violates the law.

A Martout is a person who interacts with a tweet on Twitter and endorses its content.

The newspaper, quoting an informed source, stated that the Public Prosecution Office, after interrogating a suspect due to a tweet monitored by the Ministry of Interior, and referred him to the Public Prosecution, investigated the “martyrs” of his tweet, and referred them all to trial.

The source pointed out that some judicial rulings dealt with the punishment of the "maroutines" for being "considered in support of the content of the tweet that violates the law", while others of the rulings did not confirm that the "maroutines" supported the tweet.

The source concluded that the courts look into this type of case, according to their circumstances, facts and their legal adaptation.
