60% of minor accidents in Sharjah result from not leaving a safe distance

Rafid recorded 37.9 thousand minor traffic accidents in the first half.

Director of Accidents Department and Roadside Assistance Services at Rafid Vehicle Solutions Company, member of the Joint Committee for Planning Minor Traffic Accidents in the Emirate of Sharjah, Abdul Rahman bin Kanoon Al Shamsi, revealed that 37,930 minor traffic accidents were recorded during the first half of this year.

He explained that 10% of the causes of accidents are for not following the lane, 60% for not leaving a safe distance, 10% for reversing dangerously, 10% for negligence and inattention, and another 10%.

Al Shamsi pointed out that the number of accidents reported through the “Rafid” application was 5710, and the average response time was 10.36 minutes, a minute less than last year, pointing out that the number of calls received at the call center amounted to 90,114 calls.

He pointed out the importance of drivers' commitment to traffic instructions and instructions, laws, controls, procedures and measures, for the sake of everyone's safety, stressing that the decrease in accidents is a positive indication that each driver plays his part and contributes to reducing road accidents, and providing safe roads for all.
