Sri Lanka: Ranil Wickremesinghe sworn in as interim president

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was inaugurated Thursday as the country's interim president after accepting Gotabaya Rajapaksa's resignation, and before parliament elects a new president on July 20, the Legislative Assembly Speaker's office announced.

Parliament Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abiwardana's office said presidential nominations would be accepted on July 19 and lawmakers would have to vote the following day.
