  • USA Fire season begins in California

The night wind has aggravated the

forest fires

declared yesterday in the municipalities of

Candelario

and

Monsagro

, in the province of Salamanca, which has led the Junta de Castilla y León to request the intervention of the Military Emergency Unit (UME).

The two fires started yesterday afternoon and

have worsened tonight

due to the prevailing wind.

The Junta de Castilla y León has reported that the Salamanca municipality of

Monsagro

has had to be evicted , affected by the front of the fire that started in Las Hurdes, in the province of Cáceres, which passed into Castilian-León territory on Monday.

The evacuation has been decided on Tuesday morning and Emergencies Castilla y León 112 is chartering buses to evacuate the affected residents in

Monsagro

, with an official population of 135 inhabitants.

The Candelario fire started at 5:15 p.m. yesterday due to

dry storms and lightning

in the area, while the Monsagro fire started at 4:00 p.m. in Las Mestas, in the municipality of Ladrillar (Cáceres), and arrived in the province of Salamanca shortly after.

Last night, the Junta de

Castilla y León

already foresaw complicated extinction work in Candelario due to adverse weather conditions, with gusts of wind of up to 33 kilometers per hour and maximum temperatures of 37.6 degrees Celsius, while in Monsagro extinction is made more complicated by the difficult topography of the area.

For its part, the Autonomous Government has requested the participation of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) in the extinction of the two fires, in the mountains of France and Béjar.

Level 2 of danger due to accumulation of fires in the province

For the moment, the Board has decreed

level 2 of danger

within the Civil Protection Plan for Emergencies due to Forest Fires in Castilla y León due to the accumulation of fires in the province.

In addition to the two fires in Candelario and Monsagro, yesterday there were four other fires in the province: in Cepeda, Saelices el Chico, Puerto Seguro and Sobradillo.
