On Sunday (10th) local time, Sri Lankan police arrested three protesters on suspicion of arson.

  According to the report, one of the arrested protesters was a resident of Sri Lanka’s Galle district and two were residents of the suburbs of Colombo.

The fire caused significant damage to the interior of the mansion, with several rooms almost completely destroyed.

  The Sri Lankan Prime Minister's Office issued a statement on the 9th saying that protesters broke into the residence of Prime Minister Wickremesinghe and set fire to the house.

Police said the prime minister himself and his family were not at home at the time of the incident.

  According to local media reports, Sri Lanka is experiencing the worst economic crisis in 70 years. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe expressed his willingness to resign in order to facilitate the formation of a new government involving all parties.
