The bet was bold and the result is there.

The mathematician Cédric Villani came first in the first round of legislative elections in the 5th district of Essonne this Sunday with 38.2% of the vote.

Cédric Villani, after distancing himself from LREM, had joined Nupes to embark on the reconquest of this constituency.

But the presidential majority, not appreciating the change of direction of the mathematician, had chosen to send Paul Midy (Together!) in front of him.

If the latter remains unknown to the general public, he is general manager of Renaissance and was campaign director for Benjamin Griveaux and Agnès Buzyn during the Parisian municipal elections of 2020. This Sunday, Paul Midy collected 30.5% of the vote.

With 16% of the votes cast, Michel Bournat (LR), mayor of Gif-sur-Yvette, is eliminated.
