Several are said to have been injured and scenes from the area are described as catastrophic, according to the city's police chief Richard Meulenberg.
"The police are going through the area to investigate whether there are further threats," writes Richard Meulenberg in a post on Facebook.
The building in which the shooting took place includes an outpatient clinic, an orthopedist and a center for breast health.
According to local police, the shooter must have taken his own life.
The motive for the shooting is still unclear.
