China News Service, May 30th. The National Health and Health Commission held a press conference on the progress and effectiveness of maternal and child health work since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on the 30th.

Wang Linhong, chief expert on chronic diseases at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, revealed at the meeting that since 2009, the state has included two cancer screenings into major public health service programs, providing free screening for rural women.

In order to further improve the coverage of two cancer screenings, two cancer screenings have been included in basic public health services since 2019.

As of 2020, the two cancer screenings have covered nearly 2,600 counties and cities, with a total of 130 million free cervical cancer screenings and 64 million free breast cancer screenings.

Wang Linhong said that in 2021, the National Health and Health Commission released the "Work Plan for Cervical Cancer Screening" and "Work Plan for Breast Cancer Screening". Apply more accurate and efficient screening methods, and strengthen the quality control of all aspects of screening, so that more and more urban and rural women, especially rural and urban low-income women, can enjoy high-quality screening services.

In recent years, with the development of new technologies such as biomedical testing and artificial intelligence, various regions are also constantly optimizing the two-cancer screening model. For example, Beijing has adopted a joint cervical cancer detection strategy.

In addition, places like Zhejiang and Hunan have also incorporated HPV testing into cervical cancer screening methods.

In Hubei, Yunnan and other places, the use of artificial intelligence cytology screening systems has been promoted, which has effectively solved the shortage of grass-roots manpower and pathological diagnosis capabilities.

In order to further respond to the global strategy for promoting cervical cancer elimination proposed by the World Health Organization, in recent years, various regions have also been actively exploring effective models for comprehensive cervical cancer prevention and control. The whole-chain closed-loop management model, and some regions apply big data to promote cervical cancer prevention and control, and strengthen scientific, standardized and precise.

In the next step, the National Health and Health Commission will further promote the implementation of the two cancers and three-level prevention and control measures, and improve the service capacity of the whole process of prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment.
