Prostate cancer cases will double between 2020 and 2040, according to forecasts from The Lancet Commission on Prostate Cancer. According to these estimates, low- and middle-income countries will be the most affected by the increase.
The main risk factors for suffering from this tumor are being over 50 years old and a family history of prostate cancer. The Lancet experts call for greater awareness of the symptoms and risks of the prostate cancer, especially in poor countries, and better diagnostic capacity and access to treatments.
