Police cordoned off an area on Västgötaresan after a man was shot on Friday afternoon.

The damage situation is unclear.

- It happened outdoors near a pizzeria.

There is reason to believe that there are several witnesses and we are grateful for all the tips and observations, says Johan Thalberg, spokesperson for the police.

Secures tracks

Several police patrols have been on site to secure tracks, hold interrogations and try to get hold of the person or persons who carried out the shooting, the police state via their communication unit.

- At the moment, no suspect has been arrested and with the information I have, it could be an attempted murder or aggravated assault, but that criminal classification can land in something else when the police have investigated the damage, course of events and motives, says Johan Thalberg.

Witnesses: Shot in both legs

According to witnesses from the scene, the injured must be a man in his 40s and he must have been shot in both legs.

The public who were at the scene must initially have helped to stop the bleeding.

On the night before Thursday, the police received several calls from people who heard bangs in Sävja.

Patrols then searched the area but no cause for the bangs could be determined.
