An investigation for "manslaughter" was opened after the crash of a prototype aerobatic plane on Tuesday in Ariège, which caused the death of two pilots who were world champions in this discipline, we learned from of the public prosecutor of Foix.

Autopsies performed

Autopsies were carried out on Wednesday and the bodies of the deceased were to be returned to their families no later than Thursday, Olivier Mouysset told AFP.

The prefecture of Ariège had reported on Tuesday of a microlight accident shortly after 11 a.m. in the town of Prat-Bonrepaux, three kilometers from the aerodrome of Saint-Girons-Antichan, specifying that it was of a two-seater aerobatic aircraft.

Alerted by witnesses, the firefighters and the gendarmes discovered two bodies at the site of the accident, one near the device, the second about forty meters away.

The aeronautical company Aura Aéro, based near Toulouse, then confirmed the accident of its prototype.
