«Dubai Centre»: The body compensates for donated blood within hours

The adult human body contains five to six liters of blood, and the human body is able to quickly replace lost blood, so blood serum (the liquid part of the blood) is replaced in limited hours, while red blood cells are replaced within a few weeks, according to a report by the Dubai Blood Donation Center.

The report stated that one sample of blood can be divided into several components (red blood cells, white blood cells, blood serum, platelets, and cryoprecipitate).

The human body replaces the donated red blood cells after about six weeks from the date of donation, and the donated blood cells are frozen for a period of up to 42 days, to direct them to emergency cases.

Serum makes up 55% of blood volume and transports blood cells, clotting factors such as protein, as well as nutrients and antibiotics.

Platelets are generated in the bone marrow, and the human body can replace them within 72 hours of the donation.

It is in constant demand because it is only suitable for use for five days.

The four basic blood groups (A, B, AB, and O), the most common of which is type O positive, and the least prevalent is AB negative.
