The Minister of Interior inaugurates the new electronic Saudi passport

Today, the Minister of Interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, inspected the progress of work at the General Directorate of Passports in Riyadh.

The Minister of Interior met with the employees of the Command and Control Center, the Unified Call Center 992, and the Beneficiary Services Center in the Directorate, and listened to a detailed explanation of the services provided by these centers to citizens, residents and visitors. He also reviewed some technical devices that enable the General Directorate of Passports to continue providing distinguished electronic services.

Then Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud watched a video showing the emergence and march of the passport sector and its most prominent achievements and awards, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Subsequently, the new Saudi electronic passport was launched, designed with the highest technical specifications and modern security features used in international travel documents.

The Minister of Interior signed the document inaugurating the passport, which came with a concerted effort between the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Finance, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), and is a step in the digital transformation process, which represents one of the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

The electronic Saudi passport contains an electronic chip to raise the level of security protection for the passport holder's personal data and photos, in addition to the feature of verification and automatic reading through smart gates at international ports, and its pages are decorated with the most famous historical and cultural landmarks of the Kingdom.
