A total of 1.8 million households are affected by the government's proposal.

The support will be designed as a staircase where households that consume a lot of electricity will get more money back, but mostly to those with an electricity consumption of at least 2,000 kWh per month.

It is primarily residents in small houses and villas who will receive the support, says Minister of Finance Mikael Damberg in SVT's Aktuellt.

- We had not counted on these price levels and now it is hitting very hard.

There is always a discussion about how to distribute it, but I think people understand that there are some who get enormously high electricity bills, says Mikael Damberg.

At most, a household should be able to receive SEK 6,000, but it is not clear what the lower limit for receiving the support will be.

But not everyone who receives a more expensive electricity bill will be compensated financially.

- Then the money is not enough, this is six billion kronor so it is an enormous amount of money we spend.

This gives more to those who have been affected by high price increases than other proposals that have been discussed, says Mikael Damberg.
