"The test carried out by Leo Messi was negative for Covid-19. He arrived in Paris and he will resume with the group in the coming days", explained the Parisian club in a statement.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or had tested positive for Covid-19 during his vacation in Argentina, a test revealed by PSG on Sunday.

"When it is negative, he can return to France," coach Mauricio Pochettino said at a press conference before the Parisians' match at Vannes in the Coupe de France.

PSG did not say whether the Argentinian, back in Paris, would be available for the Ligue 1 match in Lyon on Sunday (8:45 p.m.).

The capital club is a victim, like many others, of the new wave of contamination.

The most recent, announced Wednesday, concerns defender Layvin Kurzawa.

Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Danilo Pereira and young Nathan Bitumazala had also tested positive in recent days.
