announced that two staff members operating in

Burma are "missing". The NGO condemns an attack by the Burmese army in which at least 38 people, including women and children, were killed in the state of Kayah, in eastern Myanmar.

"Two members of our staff, who were returning home for vacation after carrying out humanitarian response work in a nearby community, were involved in the incident and are reported missing. We have confirmation that their private vehicle was attacked and burned. ".

The military reportedly forced people out of their cars, arresting some, killing others and burning their bodies. This is what we read in a Save the Children statement dated today. The massacre would have taken place on Christmas Eve in the village of Mo So,  in the east of the country.

A witness and local news report that government troops have collected some inhabitants of the village of Mo So, in the east of the country, some of them women and children, and have fired, killing over 30, then setting the bodies on fire. The village is located just outside the township of Hpruso, where refugees have found shelter from an army offensive.

The alleged photos of the massacre, which show the charred bodies of more than 30 people inside three vehicles, have spread on social networks

sparking outrage against the army that took power in the February coup.

The allegations could not be independently verified.

A villager told The Associated Press that the victims were killed after being arrested on their way to refugee camps: they fled fighting between armed resistance groups and the Burmese army near the village of Koi Ngan, near Mo So. .
