The complainants therefore turned to the Supreme Court.

The highest court in the country has decided to hold a special hearing on January 7 to decide the issue definitively, a highly unusual procedure.

Mandatory measures for employees

On November 5, the Federal Agency for Occupational Health and Safety had demanded that all companies with more than 100 employees require their staff either to be vaccinated or to take a

.

It also demanded the vaccination of personnel in medical establishments that receive federal grants.

Since then, disputes have rained down.

More than half of the states rejected the measures, many professional organizations and religious groups also challenged them in court, often resulting in their suspension.

In all, 80 million workers are affected by the obligation to have a weekly test or be vaccinated in a company.

And 17 million people are affected by the vaccination obligation in public health establishments.
