Former American President Donald Trump has announced a press conference for the anniversary of the Capitol storming on January 6th, marking the start of the congressional election campaign.

The subject of the appearance on his property in the state of Florida are the events of that day, it said in a statement on Tuesday.

In it, the Republican repeated his statement without any evidence that the presidential election of November 2020 had been manipulated.

He wrote to his followers: "On January 6th, there was a completely unarmed protest against the rigged elections."

The January 6th events are being investigated by a congressional committee that is also investigating allegations that Trump shares responsibility for the violence.

Before the attack on the Capitol, Trump had spread false claims for weeks that he had been deprived of a second term through massive electoral fraud.

The committee declined to comment on Trump's announcement.

Four people were killed in the assault on the seat of Congress in Washington, and one police officer died the next day from his injuries.

More than 700 people have now been arrested.

Congress elections will take place in November 2022.

The entire House of Representatives and a third of the Senate will be newly elected.

According to polls, President Joe Biden's Democrats could lose one or both houses to the Republicans.

The next presidential election is in 2024. It is unclear whether Trump will run again.

The chairwoman of the House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, has announced a series of commemorative events for the first anniversary of the Capitol storming.

The storming of the seat of Congress caused appalling reactions worldwide and is considered a black day in the history of American democracy.
