Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) wants to rely more on the public than on the police to enforce the planned general corona vaccination obligation.

"We are a country in which the vast majority obey the law," said Scholz of "Bild am Sonntag".

“We stop at red lights.

We respect the traffic rules.

Not because the police are checking us everywhere.

But because it is part of our nature that we obey such rules. "

Scholz added that the Bundestag would discuss the precise details of mandatory vaccinations for everyone.

"In any case, as a member of parliament, I will vote for compulsory vaccination because it is legally permissible and morally correct."

It is important to act decisively

According to Scholz, he is considering all measures to combat the Corona crisis.

"There must be no red lines, this pandemic has really shown us that," he said.

“We always have to be ready to rethink when circumstances require it.

And then act quickly and decisively. ”The head of government did not rule out a Christmas lockdown either.

Scholz recently announced that a legislative procedure for the general corona vaccination obligation would be initiated “promptly”.

Every member of the Bundestag should be able to “vote according to his conscience” without being forced to vote in a parliamentary group.
