In Mali, Oumar Mariko will remain in prison until his trial.

The president of the Sadi party had been detained since yesterday morning in the premises of the gendarmerie.

In custody for nearly 48 hours, he was finally placed under a committal warrant this Tuesday afternoon, December 7.

As well as two other people accused with him of having made and disseminated remarks qualified as insulting against Prime Minister Choguel Maïga.

The three men were transferred at the beginning of the afternoon to the Central Detention Center in Bamako.

" - were made in a private vocal recording which was not intended to be found in the public domain. 

However, this is precisely what constitutes the line of defense of Oumar Mariko, figure of the protest which led to the fall of the dictator Moussa Traoré in 1991, eternal opponent since then, and his two co-defendants.

" of this procedure, on the grounds that the recordings in question were obtained, according to them, illegally. 

Maître Mamadou Ismaila Konaté, one of the four lawyers who have come together to defend the three accused collectively, indicates that he will file a complaint against X- it is in fact targeting the prosecution of the Court of Commune IV- for "use of means of proof obtained under fraudulent conditions ”.    

The prosecution has set for February 15 the appearance of Oumar Mariko and his two co-defendants.
