Mahut and Rinderknech, who replaced Pierre-Hugues Herbert at the last minute, easily beat Jo Salisbury and Neal Skupski 6-1, 6-4, reducing France's loss to 2-1 after losing both singles.

The Blues, who beat the Czech Republic 2-1 on Thursday, will have to wait until the end of the group stage on Sunday to see if they qualify for the quarterfinals by taking one of the two tickets allocated to the best runners-up.
