English Channel: Record high number of refugees to Great Britain. More than 5,400 people crossed the strait between France and England in the first quarter.
In the same period last year there were almost 3,800 people; the previous record was from 2022 with 4,500 people. This is not good news for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Conservative government. The government is currently trying to push a widely criticized bill through parliament with which it wants to save its asylum pact with Rwanda.
