November 09, 2021The request of the German company to the American body to extend the authorization of the Pfizer vaccine to everyone over 18 years of age. In support of a new Pfizer study that would have concluded that a booster could restore protection against symptomatic infection to nearly 96%.

The Biden administration originally had recalls for all adults, but there was a setback last September when FDA scientific advisors turned down extra doses of Pfizer for everyone. The US panel was not convinced that healthy young people needed another administration, particularly when the majority of the world's population remains unvaccinated. 

Globally, even on the so-called boosters there are different policies of use, without homogeneity: some countries limit them to elderly or frail people from a medical point of view, while others have few restrictions: Israel has authorized Pfizer boosters for anyone 12 years old. or more.

This morning Canada authorized the administration of a third dose instead to all people over 18 years.
