For his seventh semi-final at Bercy, the 34-year-old Serb will face the Polish Hubert Hurkacz (10th) on Saturday on the road to a sixth title.

"He plays well, but I play well too," Djokovic warned of his next opponent.

Faced with the American who had pushed him to the 5th set at the beginning of the year in the third round of the Australian Open - Djokovic had injured his abdominals during the meeting before winning -, the winner of three of the four Grand Slam tournaments of the year experienced no fright on Friday.

In the first set, he made the break three times but gave Fritz his own throw-in twice.

In the second, he was never worried despite losing his first serve game, recovered in the wake.

Exempted from the first round, Djokovic had benefited from the withdrawal of Gaël Monfils the day before and therefore only played his second game on Friday since his defeat in the final of the US Open against Daniil Medvedev (2nd).

The Serbian and the Russian could meet again in the final on Sunday in Bercy.

By then Medvedev must still qualify for the semi-finals by facing Frenchman Hugo Gaston (103rd) from 7:30 p.m. (6.30 p.m. GMT).
