The "Encounters with Africa" ​​event is held today in Rome, the third edition of the Italy-Africa Ministerial Conference which brings together delegations from 54 African countries, representatives of the African Union and of the other main African Regional Organizations, as well as a series of Italian institutional personalities, as well as representatives of the economic, business, academic and third sector worlds.



This year, the appointment is part of the Italian Presidency of the G20 and will focus on its three pillars, "People, Planet, Prosperity", also connecting to the partnership with the United Kingdom for COP26. The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella will open the day of work, at 9.30, followed by speeches in the inaugural plenary session of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, by the president of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat , of the USg and executive secretary of the UN / UNECA Economic Commission for Africa, Vera Songwe, of the president of COP26, Alok Sharma, of the president of the Pan-European Commission for Health and Sustainable Development, Mario Monti and of the president of B20, Emma Marcegaglia.



After the plenary session, four interactive thematic panels will take place (two simultaneously in the morning and two in the afternoon), which will offer the participants involved a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas on the issues of renewable energy, energy transition, the environment, of green finance and sustainable development.

Also in the afternoon, there will also be a special round table dedicated to the issues of the blue economy.

The proceedings will be closed in plenary session by Minister Di Maio.
