• Based in Nantes, Reine bike is a new brand of electrically assisted bicycles.

  • The brand's first bikes are currently assembled in Vendée, in the Arcade Cycles factory.

  • Reine bikes can also be connected, to prevent theft, for example.

After two years of design and development, the Nantes-based Reine bike company is launching the production of its first 800 electrically assisted bicycles. Bikes

Pays-de-la-Loire since they are largely manufactured and then assembled in Vendée in the Arcade Cycles factories in La Roche-sur-Yon. A source of pride for Stéphane Grégoire, founder of Reine bike. “When I started, I realized that there weren't many French brands in cycling. However, we are the country of the Tour de France! », He wonders.

And what could be more normal for this sporty cyclist to entrust the assembly of his bikes to a local company?

Arcade Cycles, which is a major player in French bicycle production, has thus developed a production line to design and assemble the electric-assisted bicycles of the Nantes company.

800 biclous will be produced by the end of the year, and the first were delivered in September, directly to customers' homes.

A market explosion

However, it was not all that easy for Reine bike.

Launched in 2019, Stéphane Grégoire's entrepreneurial adventure has come to a halt linked to the pandemic.

But the Nantes boss also sees the glass as half full.

“There was also a market explosion with the health crisis.

After the pandemic, there is no longer any need to explain why it was necessary to have an electric bicycle.

There is a market ”.

If the sector is in tension due to a shortage of components, Reine bike has stock, and intends to accelerate its sales.

The Nantes-based company also stands out through the design of its bikes, with a neo-retro style and four colors to choose from.

"It is designed to be comfortable, easy to handle, secure and practical".

A high-end bike, with a range of up to 120 kilometers.

Faced with the risk of theft, the bicycle integrates a communication system and a mobile application.

The user is warned if a suspicious movement of the bicycle is detected, an alarm is triggered and the electric assistance is cut off.

The geolocation of the bike is also activated in real time.

Price side, it takes 2,990 euros or 3,490 euros for a connected bike.

“We feel in our customers that they are having fun.

They are giving themselves a gift, because the bicycle must not become a sanction.

It is now up to the cities to continue developing cycle facilities to meet growing demand.
