Of the 323 shootings that occurred in 2018, 175 were in densely populated areas.

Last year, that number had increased to 220, and until the end of August this year, 141 shootings took place in urban areas.

- If you know that someone is looking for you, you hide, which means that when you get the opportunity to shoot someone, you will do so even if you are in a public place, says Christoffer Bohman, police chief in Sollentuna in Stockholm.

However, the risk of being directly affected as an outsider without criminal links is extremely small, according to the police.

- That you as a third person should be shot and die, the risk is extremely small.

We have seen events of that nature, but they are very few.

Christoffer Bohman believes, however, that many are instead affected indirectly.

- But you can be affected in other ways by being in the environment.

I fully understand and respect the fear of having these events in my immediate area.
