The former Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn was indicted on Friday for "endangering the life of others" at the end of her hearing by magistrates of the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR), which is investigating the management of the Covid-19 epidemic, we learned from the general prosecutor's office of the CJR.

Agnès Buzyn, the first personality to be implicated in this vast case, was also placed under the more favorable status of assisted witness for "voluntary abstention from fighting a disaster," said the same source.

The former Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn was indicted by the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR) on Friday for "endangering the lives of others" as part of the government's management of the health crisis linked to the Covid-19 epidemic, we learned from the general prosecutor's office. She was also placed under the status of assisted witness for "voluntary abstention from fighting a disaster".

The former minister was heard for several hours.

Agnès Buzyn had resigned in February 2020 to devote herself to the municipal campaign in Paris and had been replaced by Olivier Véran, also concerned by this investigation launched in July 2020 by the CJR following the filing of dozens of complaints.

Former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe and Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon are also targeted.

The status of “assisted witness”, specific to French law, is a hybrid status halfway between the classic witness and the accused.

Searches were carried out last October as part of this investigation.
