The tram accident which occurred Wednesday in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) should cause "between five and six weeks" of traffic disruptions, told France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes the president of the SMTC , François Rage.

On Wednesday, a tram train had derailed before hitting a metal pole.
Six people, including the driver, were slightly injured in the shock.
An ongoing investigation
After towing the train, it will be necessary to re-establish the electric pole which supports the power lines.
But the rails do not seem to have been damaged and the president of the TCMS therefore remains confident about the timeframe of the work.
An investigation has been opened to determine the reasons for this incident.
The black boxes are in particular being analyzed.
"We are rather on a conjunction of human or procedural factors which would have been linked to each other and which would have caused this accident", estimates François Rage, while indicating that a failure of the referral system has already been ruled out.
