The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Val Ramkalawn, laid the foundation stone for a new hospital in Ladege Island, funded by the UAE, at a cost of about four million dollars, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

The ceremony was attended by Ahmed Al Neyadi, Chargé d'Affairs of the UAE Embassy in Victoria, Ahmed Afif, Vice President of Seychelles, Peggy Fedot, Minister of Health, Sylvester Radigund, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Devika Vidot, Minister of Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, and a member of the National Parliament for the island of Ladige, Rocky Ururin, in addition to To Senior Officials of the Ministry of Health of Seychelles.

During the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the project on Ladege Island - the third most populous island in the archipelago - President Ramkalawn said that this medical edifice represents a milestone in the history of Ladege Island. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UAE and its leadership for financing this project, which he described as " A gift related to life and the human spirit.

He stressed that the historical relations with the UAE under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, contributed to the development of Seychelles in various fields, expressing his appreciation for the continuous support provided by the United Arab Emirates to his country, especially in strengthening the efforts of the health sector in the face of the pandemic. "Covid-19" and contain its repercussions on the people of Seychelles.

For his part, Al Neyadi said that the cost of building the hospital amounted to about four million dollars, stressing the keenness of the UAE leadership to provide various forms of support to the friendly Republic of Seychelles in line with the state's policies in its foreign aid.

He added, "In support of the strong relations, the United Arab Emirates looks forward to continuous work with the Seychelles until the completion of this important project on the island, which attracts tourists from all over the world."

Al Neyadi indicated that the Ladige Island Hospital will be implemented in accordance with the latest international standards and specifications, and will include emergency rooms, operating suites, a dialysis unit, in addition to X-ray facilities and others.
