“Today I approve of sending a small group of diplomats backed by army rangers to Kabul airport,” Coveney wrote on Twitter.
As noted, the diplomats will work with Ireland's international partners to help evacuate the country's remaining citizens.
Earlier, US Assistant to the President for National Security Jake Sullivan said that the US authorities are overfulfilling the plan for the rate of evacuation of people from Afghanistan.
