The corona incidence in Hesse continued to decrease slightly on Monday.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), it was (as of 3.13 a.m.) 74.1 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

At the weekend it was 75.4 on Sunday and 76.4 on Saturday.

175 new infections have been registered nationwide and now 283,870 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The number of deaths rose by two to a total of 7,212 deaths.

Regionally, the Waldeck-Frankenberg district had the highest incidence with 139.4, followed by the city of Wiesbaden with 126. The Wetterau district (34.1) and the Darmstadt-Dieburg district (46.0) recorded the lowest values.

With the incidence, the number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants is recorded within seven days.

    More freedom

A two-stage plan applies in Hesse.

If a municipality has an incidence below 100 on five working days in a row, there is a first step towards more freedom, for example in schools, restaurants or tourism.

There is further relaxation in the second stage if the seven-day incidence is below 100 for 14 consecutive days or below 50 for five consecutive days.

A total of 17 municipalities were able to relax corona rules by Monday according to a list of the country.

This also applies to the city of Frankfurt and the Offenbach district, where the Hessian rules, which allow easing in many areas, have been in effect again since Monday instead of the rules of the federal emergency brake.

There is no curfew between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. in both municipalities.

The contact rules are also loosened somewhat: Now two households plus vaccinated and convalescent are allowed to meet again, children under 14 years of age do not count.

In the retail trade, “Click and Meet” is again possible without a test requirement and outdoor catering is allowed to open.

The museums of the city of Frankfurt will also open during the week.

For the time being, however, it will still be necessary to book a time slot for a visit.

The websites of the respective houses provide information on the details.

According to the Divi Intensive Care Register, 302 people in Hesse were treated in intensive care units for Covid-19 on Monday (as of 10.19 a.m.).

1159 of them had to be ventilated invasively.

According to the information, 1626 of the 1870 available intensive care beds are currently occupied, including patients with other diseases.

The RKI pointed out on Whit Monday that fewer people go to a doctor and fewer samples are taken on public holidays.

For this reason, fewer new infections are reported to the health authorities.

More than a fifth of the vaccination appointments were not kept

Of the around 1.85 million first appointments for a corona vaccination that have so far been given via the central platform of the State of Hesse, almost 22.3 percent have been canceled.

This was announced by the Ministry of the Interior in Wiesbaden in response to a request from the dpa news agency.

The vaccine from the manufacturer AstraZeneca has the highest cancellation rate with 34.3 percent, followed by Moderna with 21.9 percent and BioNtech with 17.3 percent.

In addition to the canceled appointments, there are always cases in which people did not show up for the vaccination without being canceled.

Interior Minister Peter Beuth (CDU) appealed to citizens to cancel unneeded vaccination appointments early: "This is the only way to give these appointments as quickly as possible to other citizens who are still waiting for their vaccination."

When assigning an appointment for the second vaccination, Hessen is based on the recommendations of the Standing Vaccination Commission at the Robert Koch Institute. It is about the best possible effectiveness of the respective vaccines, said the minister.
