Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The nightly exit restriction to contain the corona pandemic has apparently been largely respected by the Hamburgers. A good month after the curfew was imposed, the residents' central office has not yet received a fine for a violation. However, by May 3, the fines office had been processing five proceedings, said the office's spokesman, Matthias Krumm. "There is no income yet," he added. Due to the processing times, however, further cases could arise.

Since April 2, people who stay outside their home in Hamburg between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. without a valid reason have been threatened with a fine of 150 euros. Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) had already described the measure as very effective in mid-April. The police reported that hardly anyone was out after 9 p.m. and that there were fewer violations of the contact restrictions in the private sector. However, according to the German Weather Service, April was as cold as it has been in 40 years. Summer temperatures are expected in Germany next Sunday.

Since the pandemic began last year, according to Krumm, 23,924 fines have been issued for violating the corona rules.

The city has received 2,759,356.70 euros so far.

The disregard of the distance requirement was most often punished.

In 12,013 proceedings opened so far, 1,197,187.85 euros have been collected.

For violating the mask requirement, the fine department collected 350 184.95 euros in 6896 proceedings.
