The US Embassy in Haiti continues to function, despite the withdrawal of part of the diplomatic mission amid unrest in the country. The increase in gang violence in the vicinity of the US Embassy and near the airport led to the State Department’s decision to organize the departure of additional embassy personnel.

Earlier it was reported that armed men attacked several government buildings in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, including the presidential palace. The Haitian authorities have introduced a state of emergency and a curfew in the capital.
