“The council supported Facebook’s decision on January 7, 2021 to restrict ex-President Donald Trump’s access to posting content on his Facebook page and on his Instagram account,” the council’s website said in a decision.

Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram have blocked Trump's accounts for various periods of time over his statements about the January 6 riots in Washington.

For example, Twitter said that Trump's use of the phrase "American patriots" as a characterization of some of his supporters "can be perceived as words of support for those who committed violent actions in the Capitol."
