A number of activists have chained themselves to forest machines and blocked a road to stop Sveaskog's felling at the reindeer pastures in Ängeså Sami village and Tärendö Sami village in Norrbotten.

The reindeer pastures, where the protests are taking place, are located in Pajala and Överkalix municipalities, respectively.

According to environmental activists, these two areas are natural forests, but that is not true according to Sveaskog.

- These areas are production forests and we do not cut down natural forests.

An assessment is made and there is a set of rules that ensures that this does not happen, says Niclas Brantingson, communications manager at Sveaskog.
