“The Council today decided to extend its restrictive measures in response to serious human rights violations in Iran until April 13, 2022,” the statement said.

As noted, eight people and three organizations were added to the sanctions list in connection with "their role in the violent response to demonstrations in Iran in November 2019."

Earlier, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that Washington is ready to lift sanctions on Tehran, including restrictions that are incompatible with the Iranian nuclear deal.
