Brunsbüttel (dpa / lno) - When approaching the Brunsbüttel lock, a cargo ship collided with a dolphin during the night and was damaged in the process.
As the police announced on Tuesday, the ship drove head-on when entering with the bow against one of the driven piles.
This caused damage to the hull above the waterline and to the underwater hull.
During the day, the freighter will be checked more closely.
According to initial findings, there was no technical defect that could have led to the accident.
Nobody was hurt.
