China News Service, March 23. According to Peru’s “Gazette” report, the new crown epidemic data released by the Peruvian Ministry of Health on March 22 showed that there were 6,464 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia, of which 2,366 were new cases in the past 24 hours. Another 4,098 is a supplement, with a total of 1,472,790 confirmed cases; 141 new deaths in a single day, and a total of 50,339 deaths.

On the 22nd local time, Peru’s Defense Minister Nuria Espachi reported that nearly 500,000 people across the country had been vaccinated against the new crown and called on the public to continue to comply with the restrictions imposed to fight the epidemic.

The Minister pointed out that the vaccination team is carrying out vaccination work across the country, and 485,886 medical staff, police, members of the armed forces and the elderly have been vaccinated nationwide.

The government is currently considering giving priority to vaccinating the most vulnerable people in the areas most affected by the epidemic.

In the next few days, as Peru receives more vaccines, vaccination work will continue.

The Peruvian government also reported that the number of medical oxygen plants nationwide has increased from 63 to 159 within 15 weeks, an increase of 150%, and the oxygen production capacity has increased from 41 tons to 101 tons per day.

On the other hand, Peru’s Minister of Education Ricardo emphasized on the same day that April 4 will be the day when people who go out during the Holy Week holiday will return home, but the government only allows public transportation.

Earlier, the government announced that during the 2021 Holy Week holiday (April 1 to 4), strict restrictions will be implemented to reduce the movement of people and avoid large-scale new coronavirus infections.

The Minister of Education explained that the government's move was to avoid the spread of the new crown virus during the holidays, to prepare for the general election on April 11, and to prepare for the possible third wave of epidemics.

Holy Week is often a period of increased sales in the hotel and catering industry, but in 2021, Peru will implement strict mandatory social distancing during the April 1st to 4th holiday.

The Peruvian Seafood Restaurant Association (ARMAP) warned that this will cause the fish shop to lose 40% of its turnover in the second quarter.

According to the association, the turnover during the Holy Week holidays accounted for 10% of the annual revenue of these seafood restaurants. The average profit rate of fish shops before the epidemic was 20%, but at present it can only maintain the basic cost of survival.

In addition, due to strikes by individual fishermen, the prices of fish and shellfish products have risen by 60%. If the strikes continue in the next few weeks, the prices of fish and shellfish may double again by Holy Week.
