AC Milan snatched the 1-1 draw in added time at Manchester United, and Arsenal practically secured their qualification with a 3-1 win over Olympiacos in Piraeus on Thursday in the round of 16 first leg of the Europa League.

At Old Trafford, Dane Simon Kjaer equalized after two minutes of added time for Milan, with a header below the bar after receiving a corner from Bosnian Rade Krunic.

Manchester opened the scoring in the 50th minute, also with a header, by the young (21) Italo-Ivorian Amad Diallo, who lobbed the Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on a magnificent opening of the Portuguese Bruno Fernandes (50th).

Diallo had only been playing for five minutes, coming into play after the break in place of Anthony Martial.

Earlier, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men, reinvigorated by their 2-0 victory in the Manchester derby at City on Sunday, had come close to opening the scoring in the 39th minute but England captain Harry Maguire was sent his recovery to the post, when he was alone two meters from the goal.

For its part, Milan, second in its championship like Manchester elsewhere, was denied a goal that seemed quite valid, scored by the Ivorian Franck Kessié (12th).

But after watching the VAR, the Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic refused it for a fault of hand.

The meeting was played in particular without the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the Milan side, and Paul Pogba on the English side, who should however be available for return on March 18 in San Siro.

In the evening, Arsenal clearly dominated the Olympiakos of the French Mathieu Valbuena and Yann M'Vila (3-1).

The Norwegian Martin Odegaard opened the scoring for the English with a splendid strike under the bar from outside the penalty area (34th), on which the Portuguese goalkeeper Jose Sa did not seem free from all reproach.

The Moroccan Youssef El Arabi equalized in the second half for the Greeks (58th), but the Brazilian Gabriel, with a magnificent header (79th), and the Egyptian Mohamed Elneny (85th), who had just come into play, have knocked out the champions of Greece, transferred from the Champions League.

Roma, Granada and Tottenham took a good home option at the expense of Shakhtar Donetsk (3-0), Norwegians Molde (2-0) and Dinamo Zagreb (2-0) respectively, with a brace from Harry Kane .

Earlier in the late afternoon, Ajax Amsterdam easily won at home against Young Boys Bern (3-0) and Villarreal won 2-0 at Dynamo Kiev.

Slavia Prague and Glasgow Rangers, finally, could not decide (1-1).
