But despite the fact that the spread of infection has increased throughout the Jämtland Härjedalen region, Jämtland Härjedalen's assistant infection control doctor Annika Ersson does not believe that it has a direct connection to mountain tourism.

- I do not see that the increase in infection has anything to do with sports holidays, rather that we have contracted infection in a group of younger people who live and work in Åre and have a lot of contact with each other, she says.
