A new study has shown that a single dose of vaccines from major companies significantly reduces the need for hospitalizations of people with the emerging corona virus (Covid-19), while official data showed that more than 20 million people in Britain received the first dose of vaccines.

A study conducted by the Public Health Agency in England and revealed by the Mail on Sunday newspaper indicated that receiving a single dose of the two vaccines "oxford-astrazeneca" or "pfizer-biontech" reduced the need for treatment in Hospitals, more than 90%.

On Saturday, the United States granted an emergency license to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is a single-dose, can be stored in refrigerator temperatures, to join the vaccines of the company, "Pfizer-Biontech" and "Moderna".

In the context, the chief official concerned with infectious diseases in the United States, Anthony Fauchi, said that he did not mind receiving the "Johnson & Johnson" vaccination, encouraging Americans to accept any of the three vaccines that had been approved by the authorities.

"The three are really very good, and people should receive the most available ones in front of them ... If you go to a place and find (Johnson & Johnson), and he is available at the time, take it," he added in an interview.

Acceleration of vaccinations

In Britain, the health authorities announced the vaccination of 20 million people with a single dose of vaccines, while the vaccination campaign began targeting younger age groups.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that this historic point represents a "tremendous national achievement," and praised the country's health system, workers, volunteers and the armed forces, adding, "I urge everyone to get vaccinated ... every dose represents a difference in our battle with Covid-19."

On Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II (94 years) encouraged her citizens to receive the vaccination, explaining that the injection did not "harm her at all" and that she should "think about others."

Britain said last week that more than 1 in 3 adults had received the first dose of the vaccine.

And 6,035 new infections were recorded during the past 24 hours and 144 deaths.

Criticism of Israel

In a related context, Israel said today that it will provide vaccines to Palestinians who work in it or in the settlements of the occupied West Bank, and the campaign that will start a few days ago may include an estimated 130,000 Palestinians, which will start within days.

Israel has vaccinated more than half of its 9.3 million people, including Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem, with at least one dose of the Pfizer-Bionic vaccine, but it faces international criticism for not making a greater effort to vaccinate Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

So far, the 5.2 million Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip have received about 32,000 doses of vaccine.

The pandemic has killed more than two million and 500 thousand people in the world since December 2019, according to Agence France-Presse.

More than 113 million 374,410 people have been confirmed infected with the virus since its emergence.

The United States is the country most affected by the epidemic, with 510,467 deaths, followed by Brazil (252,835), Mexico (184,474), India (156,938) and the United Kingdom (122,415).
