February 23, 2021 Lawrence Ferlinghetti died at the age of 101.

A prominent poet, he was the long-time owner of City Lights, the San Francisco bookstore and publishing house that was the cradle of the Beat Generation and helped to give the city the role of literary center and the cultural revolution, destined to transcend the boundaries of USA.



The death occurred on Monday at his home in San Francisco.



His son Lorenzo said lung disease caused the death.
