After six months of space travel and several years of preparation, it's time for the landing in the Jezerocrat as planned by the US space agency Nasa.

The landing is made with the help of a kind of flying crane celebrating Perserverance to the surface, where the probe will lead for traces of life to take home to Earth.

It also has a helicopter drone with it that will test whether it is possible to fly drones on Mars.

Ten years to answer

The Mars probe is about the size of a car and full of technical equipment.

So far, space projects have gone to Mars but never brought anything back to Earth.

Perseverance can examine the samples on site with its equipment, but the samples must be flown back and examined on the ground to get absolutely reliable answers as to whether the work was successful.

It may take some time, and is expected to be around 2030.
