China News Agency, Johannesburg, February 7 (Reporter Wang Xi) The South African Meteorological Department issued a warning on the 7th that tropical depression from the northern mainland of Botswana ensued after the tropical cyclone "Eloys" passed.

Affected by this, the three provinces of South Africa are currently facing the risk of local flooding.

A few days ago, the arrival of tropical cyclone "Elois" caused continuous rainfall in many parts of South Africa. More than ten days of heavy rainfall caused flooding in some areas and caused damage to infrastructure.

Among them, some roads and infrastructure in the Northern Cape Province, a major mining town in South Africa, were severely damaged, rendering some areas unable to pass normally.

However, the "Eloys" just ended, and the tropical depression from the northern mainland of Botswana immediately came, and once again caused continuous heavy rainfall in many parts of South Africa.

The South African Meteorological Department predicts that the rain will last for at least a week. At that time, the eastern Northwestern Province, the northern Free State Province and the western Limpopo Province will face greater flood risks, and even individual areas will face "destructive" flood risks.

However, the Meteorological Department also pointed out that this round of heavy rains can free South Africa from the trouble of severe drought for three consecutive years.

Under this circumstance, all parts of South Africa are currently actively monitoring rainfall and preparing a large number of drainage facilities.

The South African Meteorological Department has also confirmed that most of the current reservoirs in South Africa have flood resistance and will not allow floodwater to easily flow into residential communities.

Data show that as of 17:00 on February 6, the water level of the Vaal River Reservoir in South Africa has reached 92.5%, while in the same period last year, the water level of the Vaal River Reservoir was only 64.5%.
