The United Nations Support Mission in Libya announced the list of candidates for the Presidential Council and the position of Prime Minister, and said that Ahmed Maitiq, Osama Essid and Fathi Bashagha are among the candidates for prime minister.

The mission added that Khaled al-Mashri, Aqila Saleh and Salah al-Nimroush are among the candidates for the Presidential Council, and confirmed that all the candidates pledged to respect the road map that paves the way for the elections.

The UN mission said in a statement that there are 21 candidates for the post of prime minister in Libya, after the deadline for receiving applications has expired.

The UN mission had opened the door for candidacy for membership of the Presidential Council, consisting of 3 people, and to head the new government since Thursday, January 21, for a period of 8 days.

The mission published the list of candidates for the Presidential Council and the position of Prime Minister in alphabetical order for the Arabic language on its website, after the end of the week to receive nominations for executive authority positions, which ended on Thursday.

The mission confirmed that the candidates pledged, in the event that they choose the executive authority, to submit a declaration to the relevant supervisory authorities of their fixed and movable property inside and outside Libya.

She added that she will hold a meeting for the entire Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Switzerland from 1 to 5 February next, to conduct the voting process on the new unified interim executive authority.
