Uhyst (dpa / sn) - A car driver had a fatal accident on the federal highway 156 near Uhyst (Görlitz district) on Saturday.
On request, the Görlitz police department announced that he had strayed off the road with his car on a presumably slippery road surface and hit the side of a tree.
The 53-year-old was so badly injured in the collision that he died at the scene of the accident.
His passenger was taken to hospital seriously injured.
Because of the accident, the federal road between Uhyst and Weißwasser was closed for almost three hours on Saturday afternoon.
